Autumn/Winter Skincare routine

Autumn/Winter Skincare routine

Time is moving fast and so do my ability to use up and change my skin care routine. Majority of products are fairly new to the blog but in reality I’ve been using them over the past few months. Here is the low down on my new and improved, tried and tested fall skin care routine.

Cleansing is probably the most important step of any simple skin care routine. for finding the right product you (and your skin) enjoy using is essential. Algenist Gentle Rejuvenating Cleanser (£18) is great all-rounder that is still consider luxury but affordable item. Ever since I start using this cleanser my skin looks and feels far more balanced. Since I start using it (about three weeks now) it never caused any skin irritation/redness nor left my skin feeling tight or pulled after use. The consistency is very creamy and comes out as a pearlescent tick gel. I normally massage it in on damp skin and make sure I rinse it thoroughly. The scent is kind of neutral but not particularly pleasant, which could be a bit off putting, so make sure you check this product before you actually buy it. Algenist Gentle Rejuvenating Cleanser works great on dry/dehydrated skin but also successfully manages to keep excess oils around the T-zone at bay. It really helped with reducing the appearance of black heads (if you cleanse regularly expect similar results) keeping my skin clean and balanced.

Toning is a nice to have step but in theory completely unnecessary. Chanel Lotion Confort (£30) is pricy number but also a good alcohol free suiting toner that leaves your skin feeling silky soft. I normally use it in the morning before moisturizer on days I feel like pampering my skin for no reason.

Winter skincare routine

Serum is a great way to target specific skin problems. Kiehl’s Daily Reviving Concentrate* (£36) is a new to me product that easily fitted into my daily skin care routine. This face oil primarily targets skin fatigue but it seems to have helped with some other skin concerns such as dry patches and dehydration. You really need the tiniest amount to apply all over your face right before moisturizer. I normally limit myself to three drops which is absolutely plenty to cover my whole face and neck. It absorbs fairly quickly leaving no trace, just a slight lingering zesty scent. I’ve used this product for about three weeks now and did not experience any negative effect such as breakouts or clogged pores much like with some other face oils in the past. This is essentially a lighter version of the bestselling Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate but personally I think far more versatile. I’ve been using it as part of both my morning and evening routine. Love when products double up.

Moisturizing is a very important step that you should never skip, especially if you are not wearing make up on that day. My previous experience with Sarah Chapman was somewhat positive so I decided to give the range another go. Skinesis Dynamic Defense Day Cream SPF15 (£44) it is definitely more of a winter type of moisturizer that I bought in preparation for the upcoming months. During cold weather my skin tend to go dry and tight and in definitely need of heavier skin protection.  This day cream has a tick cream consistency that feels very suiting on the skin. Little goes a long lay with this product and overdoing it can really make your skin look greasy. I normally use one pump for my whole face and neck aria. After two weeks of regular use my skin tone appears more even and it’s been a while since I have any red patches around my sensitive arias. So far i think this product will do a good job protecting my skin from cold and wind.

Eye cream is another skincare essential, after all somebody has to take care of those under eye dark circles. Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado (£20) has been featured few times now. Consistency is tick and creamy but at the same very suiting and  moisturizing. A great application tip is to warm up the consistency between your ring fingers and then apply. It goes very smoothly and this seems to absorb far more quickly too.

There you have my beauties my simple step by step updated beauty routine. If you are interested to learn more about my evening routine check this blogpost. Even after few months I’m still using the same products simply because that seems to really work.
