Japanese makeup and fashion trends have always fascinated me to a point of oblivious jealousy. Japanese girls seem to have a very daring style consisting of a statement, colorful clothes paired with very fresh and undetectable makeup. Wash of color on the eyes (or bold eyeliner), rosy cheeks, and stained lips is their version of a beauty uniform. I always wanted to explore their local brands and try their version of well know makeup products to compare the difference. At last, I got my hands on THREE Cosmetics Japan, luxury makeup and skincare brand that have a big stamp of approval from local beauty editors. .
The minute I saw the THREE Cosmetics counter I knew that I’ll end up with quite some products from this new exotic brand. I went for quite a bit of makeup and skincare bits that I will talk about in two separate blog posts. Onto makeup, there were four items I decided to try from their makeup line. Staring with a base type of products, I went for THREE Correcting Concealer which consist of four shades, two shades of cream concealer, setting powder and brow highlighter. The consistency is creamy and tick but once on the skin it really melted away and felt very lightweight. It provided a good medium coverage and was really surprised how well this concealer mesh with the skin. After a few hours of wear, I did set a little into fine lines. There is a setting powder that comes in the same shade but on the skin it is almost undetectable and it appears almost translucent. In the pan the brow highlighter looks very shimmery but on the skin it does look very settle and barely undetectable.
Next product that really caught my eye was THREE Shimmering Glow Duo. The compact comes with two cream highlighters, once in champagne color and another in a coppery gold shade. The texture is cream to powder, but on touch, it feels very stiff. The effect on the skin is very settle despite the lightly glittery look in the pan. The champagne color adds a good shade of iridescent light to the skin, which I find quire wearable for during the day. The Coppery gold shade is great for adding a settle contour. Both shades blend very well and are easy to control with makeup brush or even fingers. One thing to note is the tiny bits if micro glitter added to the texture of both shades. It is really not something to worry about since it gives a nice glow from within but I find it kind new and interesting.
Moving on to eye shadow I picked up a THREE 4D-Plus Eye Palette in shade 01 Close To Your Heart. Something unique about this eye shadow quad is that one of the shades is oil glue that bonds the colors together for more seamless and long-lasting results. The color of the oil glue was looking surprisingly dark across the whole range of eye palettes but luckily, once on the eye lids, it did not translate as strong and dark. The texture of all eye shadows is very smooth and super bendable. In terms of pigmentation, as expected each color translated more of a sheer wash of color rather than something super pigmented. This palette does a great job for achieving a settle everyday makeup look, but if you prefer more intense eye shadows this range is definitely not for you.
At last, I picked up THREE Shadow Lining Performance Eyeliner in 07 Feel the beat which is also a limited color. The shade is quite unique deep red-brown that glides on easily because of the soft texture. I find it to last a very good while and it is practically smudge proof.
THREE Cosmetics lived up to my expectations and I’m glad to have found few new favorite products from this range. Also, I’m in love with the stylish packaging that comes with gray rubber coating, big mirror and surprisingly the functional mini makeup brushes. In terms of price I did feel that this range is a bit up there but then again it really depends on what you are looking for. If I have to choose one product from the line it will probably be THREE Correcting Concealer because of the flawless finish. Also, THREE Shadow Lining Performance Eyeliners are a great investment as well.
