I am always hopeful and existed when I stumble across a new skincare brand from the Far East.Originally from China, Herborist skincare combines the power of natural ingredients with modern innovation making.Herborist Discovery Kit comes with four every day skincare essentials making great introduction to their rather large skincare range. In this blog post will include Herborist review of all four hero products from their skincare line.
My first impressions are based on the packaging which looks very clean and medical, reflecting the brand focus on natural ingredients. Herborist Discovery Kit is a good value for money since there are four generous size samples including day cream, two of their more popular face masks and an eye cream.
Herborist Revitalizing and Firming Day Cream – The product has a light and dehydrating texture that quickly sinks into the skin. After about a week (I actually finished the sample size product) of regular daily use my skin felt same as normal without any visible signs of improvement or irritation. This product is nice but doesn’t do more than you regular (and probably cheaper) daily moisturizer.
Herborist face masks are definitely the star buys from the brand and probably the sole reason I decided to purchase this whole discovery kit. The back and white mask are supposed to symbolize Yin & Yang that work together in conjunction to create the perfect balance. Step one is to use the black mask to cleanse and purify the skin. Then follow with the white mask that nourishes and soothes. Be warned this two mask are not suitable for sensitive skins (I learned my lesson the hard way).
On cleansed skin first I applied Herborist Black Tai Chi Mask. The mask has normal cream consistency that glides on easily on the damp skin. After use this mask had absolutely the same effect like some (cheaper) clay masks I’ve tried in the past. My dehydrated skin was left a bit irritated, less congested but also in desperate need of moisturizer or serum. If your complexion is more on the oilier side mask can really help remove any excess oils and smoothen any impurities otherwise it does tend to be a bit harsh on the skin.
Later I reached for Herborist White Tai Chi Mask. With similar consistency this mask did a good job leaving my skin soft and smooth. Unfortunately I did not do anything more (or less) than the average face mask from the drugstore. I was left with the same impression after using Herborist Revitalizing and Firming Eye Cream. This eye cream has gel lightweight consistency that absorbs quickly. Over the course of about a week I could not see any visible improvement of dark circles or reduced eye puffiness.
Herborist seemed to had great potential but really did not work well for me. The majority of full size products are kind of on the pricy side so I would recommend researching a bit more before making any harsh decisions.
