There is so much rave about some products that when you actually get around of buying them, regret starts creeping in. Georgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation is one of those rushed airport purchases, that to date I still don’t know how I feel about. Under the low florescent airport lights I did manage to pick up the right shade for me, which turn out to be 4. There are 21 shades to choose from so I recommend taking your time choosing what is right for you.
Review after review, people talk about how great this foundation is especially for dry and also combination skin. Being part of the dry skin community I was excited to experiment with this matte finish foundation. The consistency is semi tick and not so easy to blend. At first Luminous Silk looked very plastered over my skin. Using a foundation brush did not make things better – streaks everywhere. I moved on to using a makeup sponge and to rectify the situation I started using my fingers. Two foundation brushes and one beauty bender later I managed to achieve skin like finish. It really felt like hard work may be because I am used to the ease of application that come with any dewy foundation.
Application struggles aside I am really impressed with the luminous matte finish. Skin have natural healthy glow and no shine. The coverage is more medium than light. It evens skin tone and covers well skin pigmentation. It requires the help of a good concealer when it comes to blemishes and other problem arias. This foundation does not set into wrinkles or pores and also tends to reduce their appearance. Over the course of the day I did apply some powder on my T-zone.If you have oily skin I would recommend using a primer.
Overall impressions of Georgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation are quite good, but it takes some work to get there. On photographs this foundation does look like skin which I was at most impressed with. If you are up for the challenge go for it.
