Hyaluronic acid (HA) is one of the most hyped up skin ingredients at the moment targeting skin plumpness and hydration. This new overload of products does not necessarily guarantees their effectiveness or miraculous improvement on targeted skin concerns. Intensive hydrating serum with hyaluronic acid should contain low molecules of HA, absorb quickly and deliver visible results in about a week of daily use. After testing over ten different products from various price points I think I found the one.
There are many small and independent skincare brands with great range of products that under normal circumstances I would never gravitate towards. Since starting my beauty blogger there are so many new and exciting new brands that I encountered, Medik8 being one of them. Medik8 does not come in flashy packaging or tons heavy advertising featuring the latest pop celebrity. The company is taking more professional approach to things talking about their years of experience and advanced research in the beauty industry. There are few ranges of products focusing on skin hydration, prevention and correction. The line is quite elaborate and even the fussiest customer can find something suitable in the product range.
From their range decided to try Medik8 Hydr8 B5 Serum* (£38 -£32 depending on the retailer) which has also received a big stamp of approval by beauty guru Lisa Eldrige. Essentially it is a serum with Hyaluronic Acid (retaining skin moisture) and Vitamin B5 (anti-acne treatement ingredient also helping with healing and skin regeneration) focusing on skin rehydration and restoring skin moisture. It comes in a glass bottle with plastic dropper that also has measurements scale. Application instructions call to apply 6 drops of serum on clean face before moisturizer, which is also about the same amount I use on single application. i normally use this serum as part of my morning skincare routine. On the skin the consistency feels very lightweight and gel like. It absorbs in seconds, without any trace or tacky feeling left afterwords. Every time after use it leaves the skin feeling super soft and does tend leave a matte finish, which is ideal for my oily T-zone. On a “good skin days” I also tend to skip moisturizer and only apply this product, since I feel it gives me enough moisture and make great matte base for makeup. My application tip is to take a few drops at the time and massage it onto the different arias of the face, one at the time. Over few weeks of daily use I could see overall gradual improvement. My skintone remained even and did not irritate any of my recent blemishes. This serum has no scent which is great new if you have sensitive skin or you are sensitive towards skincare fragrances. . Medik8 Hydr8 B5 Serum is a great product for sensitive, dehydrated and even oily skin types. At the minute my skin leans towards combination type and this serum really suits it.
