The battle of black eyeliners (drugstore edition)

The battle of black eyeliners (drugstore edition)

After my recent experience with Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner in Black (check full review here) i was completely converted to felt tip black eyeliners. This time around i was on a mission to find good high street alternatives. I have selected three drugstore brands for under the 5£ mark that make Eyeko run for his money.

budget black eyeliner review
From left to right: IN2IT, Miss Sporty, Eyeko, Eveline Cosmetics

Eveline Cosmetics Eyeliner Pen in Deep Black is a great budget alternative. The size of the fell tip is long and with very similar shape to Eyeko. On application the felt tip feels a bit more flexible and easy to apply. There is no dragging or stabbing because the color come off very easily. Speaking of color it translates as glossy shade of black. The formula is great and reasonably long lasting. Only towards the end of the day i could see some fallouts and the color fading. Something unique about the packaging is that the lid has that luxurious click that seals off the product and prevents it from drying. I have been using this eyeliner for about 2 months now and can confirm that is going strong.

Miss Sporty Cat’s Eyes Liner in 001 Miaowww Black is the perfect tool for creating a precise eye flick. At first I did not have high hopes for this product considering the small price. The fiber tip gives great control when trying to create super thin line. Very easy to apply, not too flexible and releases good amount of product in one stroke. The color translates as glossy black. I find this black eyeliner to last a reasonable amount of time, but i have to say that is smudges a bit. Perfect for during the day but not great going out.

IN2It Waterproof Eyeliner Pen in PT 01 Very Black is my favorite budget buy from the bunch. I picked up this eyeliner on my not so recent trip to Thailand. I was looking for a long lasting product that will last even in extremely humid and hot climate. This super long lasing formula is absolutely amazing and it does not budge. Also this was the first time I’ve seen black eyeliner with such diagonally cut fiber tip. This design really works and gives the same if not better application the the regular pointy eyeliners. It takes a bit of time to get used to but once you do it is very easy to apply. The only one flaw in the packaging is the lid. It does not close properly so the product dries quickly.

All three alternatives have they shortcoming but still make a great budget buy.
